In the 1988 Massachusetts Governor’s Council Primary for the 3rd District, Robert Kennedy defeated Herbert Connolly by 1 vote (14,716-14,715), and it was his own. Connolly arrived at his precinct shortly after the polls closed and wasn’t able to vote.
