Tied Election in MA State House Race Leads to Recount

In the 2010 Massachusetts state legislature election for the 6th district, Peter Durant was initially declared the winner by 1 vote (13,174-13,173). However, Judge Richard Tucker ruled that one absentee ballot that was initially discarded should be counted for Geraldo Alicea creating a tie. Six months later, a special election was held in which Durant beat Alicea by 56 votes. #VotingMatters #2018Midterms #Massachusetts
