Four Candidates, Two Seats and a 4 Vote Victory in SD House Race

In the 1998 South Dakota House of Representatives election for District 12, four candidates John R. McIntyre, Robert Litz, Hal Wick and Judy Rost fought for two seats. On the initial count, they had respectively 3,229, 2,250, 3,229 and 3,790 (12,498 total votes). As in 1996, Rost won the first seat, while McIntyre and Wick tied for the second seat. But on a recount, McIntyre was found to be ahead by 4 votes, with the final official tally being 3,219, 2,244, 3,215 and 3,776 (12,454 total votes). #VotingMatters #2018Midterms #SouthDakota
